PIXO VR training is a ground-breaking Virtual Reality learning tool that provides hands-on experience in risk-free simulated 3D environments. Since we never shy away from complex projects, N-iX MR was in charge of creating several VR training simulators.
The skill labor crisis is making hiring and training more difficult and expensive. Any mistake committed by a trainee often bears negative consequences in terms of cost or human safety, especially in construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy industries. Luckily, today we have an opportunity to transfer practical training into Extended Reality (XR).
PIXO VR company aims at making this transition smoother and affordable by introducing PIXO Apex cloud-based platform for easy management of XR content on the one hand and by delivering quality Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Realities solutions on the other hand.
N-iX MR met PIXO VR at the VRX conference in San Francisco, and after exchanging our VR development experience, we later decided to work together. For this project, our task was to develop fully immersive and interactive 3D workspaces for Inside/Outside Gas Meter Inspection, Appliance Inspection, and Facility Locating & Marking VR training modules.
Basically, you put on a VR headset and pick up the controllers, and get instantly immersed in a 360-degree virtual world that looks, feels, and behaves like the real one. As a trainee, your task is to inspect multiple appliances, including central air/heating units, gas meters and pipes, ovens, vents, etc. Investigate the problem and potential hazards, document the process, solve issues and report findings.
Just like in real life, some situations are risky, even deadly. Trainees must not only possess thorough knowledge but also apply their critical thinking, as well as observational and decision-making skills to pass. Real-time scoring provides immediate feedback and offers training managers insight into trainee capabilities. Users may also access review mode after each attempt, where they can see their mistakes with detailed explanations.
VR simulation can expose trainees to a myriad of randomized scenarios. This ensures that every attempt is unique, preventing you from memorizing the most difficult parts and teaching to the test mistakes.
The multi-user training feature opens up opportunities for team collaboration. The course can be run with or without an instructor present, and multiple trainees and instructors can interact while logged in from anywhere, be it in the same room or from thousands of miles away. Which is quite handy in our times.
The training simulation was built in partnership with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the Gas Technology Institute (GTI), which makes it a hundred percent credible tool to effectively teach trainees and test experts of the industry.
PIXO VR offers an ultimate learning tool applicable in any industry. It can be used both to train a new generation of workforce and improve current employee performance, without risking one’s life and financial resources.
An active learning environment teaches and reinforces better than any classroom exercise ever could. Moreover, the gamification element keeps trainees both mentally and physically engaged in tasks, which significantly boosts retention rates.
VR training is accessible via the most popular headsets, including Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Oculus Quest, HTC Focus Plus, and soon Pico Neo 2.
Today, the PIXO Apex platform is becoming a world-renowned tool for XR solutions, chosen by leading companies, and N-iX is proud to promote it. Our cooperation with PIXO VR is gaining momentum, and we look forward to what awaits next.
